Educational Basis for Action and Goals

Within the developing world millions of children struggle in schools that cannot meet their basic educational needs. The World Education Forum calls upon governments and the scientific community to make every effort in the development of strategies and action plans that will guarantee the right of all people to a basic quality education.

Basis for action

• There are populations that are excluded from attaining a quality education due to geographical location, social and economic inequalities.
• Programs currently in place provide schools in the developing world with assistance required to improve their educational standard.
• Results clearly show a remarkable improvement in living standards, health care, quality of life and progress towards a healthier future.

Goals

• Assure equal access to a quality education for all with specific attention paid to excluded social groups.
• Improvements in education will help to create opportunity locally and prevent an exodus of unskilled people seeking work where it may not exist.
• Ensure that education of all youth reflects the economic and social needs of the global community and incorporates the concepts of environmental awareness and sustainable development.
• Restructure education in developing countries to be more inclusive of girls and women.
• Bring youth from the industrialized world to developing nations, so that they may work together on projects that will improve schools and communities in need.
