Vision

We envision a world where international experience for youth, especially in the form of service to others, becomes an opportunity available to more students. It is our hope and our belief that youth service is the key to bringing about the change in the world we wish to see.

Mission

The Global Youth Service Team (GYST) is organized for charitable and educational purposes and exists exclusively to provide high school and college students with the opportunity to bring sustainable energy systems, access to clean, safe water, training and education to people who are excluded from attaining a better life due to geographical location,

economic inequality, and human rights violations.

The primary goals of the GYST are to provide young people with opportunities to:

• Build solar powered electrical and water disinfection systems for schools and medical facilities that serve the disadvantaged in remote areas in order to catalyze improvements in health care and education.
• Implement programs that promote sustainable energy initiatives throughout the world through youth community participation.
• Promote local capacity for developing community resources and skills that create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
• Financially and technically support community-based integrated approaches to problems of poverty, public health, and environmental destruction in developing communities.
• Develop an understanding of other cultures and recognition of the potential in our diversity by focusing on people living in remote areas of the world who are most in need due to resource and energy poverty.
