Our strength and ability to perform our services comes from the partnerships that the GYST has formed.
Our partners are dedicated, competent local professionals who are our project coordinators and community organizers. They possess the skills and resources to repair systems, teach villagers about ways to ensure that their systems last as long as possible and provide services that help ensure the sustainability of all renewable energy generation within villages.
The Border Green Energy Team
The Border Green Energy Team www.BGET.org has been our partner since 2006. BGET's director is Salinee Tavaranan.
The Border Green Energy Team (BGET) provides hands-on appropriate technology training and financial support to village innovators in ethnic minority areas on both sides of the Thai/Burma border.
BGET works in four areas:
- Improving sustainability of Thai solar home systems through local technician trainings
- Refugee camp renewable energy trainings
- Community micro-hydro construction and O&M
- Solar electricity construction and O&M trainings for medical clinics on the border.
Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation (TBCAF)
The Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation (TBCAF) tbcaf.wordpress.com has been our partner since 2006.The founder and director is Watit Hathaipassorn.
Tak Border Child Assistance Foundation (TBCAF) is a non-religious, non-profit foundation which was established by the people living in local community along Thai-Burma border. TBCAF provides educational support for children from low-income families, working families, neglected and vulnerable children who have less access to basic and higher education. In addition, TBCAF promotes community development by coordinating local GOs and international NGOs.
Objectives
- To advocate and protect children and youth's rights, value, and dignity.
- To create and provide educational opportunities for less fortunate children, orphans, and migrants.
- To promote and support appropriate vocational and skilled training based on local situation.
- To encourage children to express themselves based on the Child Protection Bill of B.E. 2546.
- To get involved actively in work with both local GOs and international NGOs.
The Taipei Overseas Peace Service (TOPS) has been our partner since 2006. The director of TOPS program along the Thai/Burma border is Sam Lai.
Taipei Overseas Peace Service (TOPS)
Taipei Overseas Peace Service (TOPS) www.cahr.org.tw/tops/eng/about.php is a Taiwan-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that since 1996 it has been operating educational assistance programs to Karen refugee camps, Burmese migrant community in Thailand and implementing development projects to remote Thai-Karen villages along the Thai-Burmese border. TOPS recognizes that fully community empowerment is a fundamental aspect of development work, and it could achieve the final goal of "Self-Reliance" and "Sustainable Development" in the humanitarian action Refugee Early Childhood Development Programme
TOPS has cooperated with the women groups and refugee committees to implement Early Childhood Education and Nutrition Programs in Mae La , Nu Po and Umpiem Mai refugee camps. TOPS provides a range of services to the nursery schools – all implemented through local staff – such as teacher trainings and networking, local curriculum development, school supplies, nutritious school lunches, and subsidies to the nursery school staff, etc.
